If our current way of life is unsustainable, then it seems prudent that we act to remedy this. But what to do? Rather than look directly at the future, this workshop explores our history, our traditions and those of other cultures to find examples of more sustainable and enjoyable communities. If we cannot conceive an outcome, we could have a lot of trouble bringing it into existence. So we can look across space and time for some inspiration, comparing patterns of human activity and reflecting on their different qualities. This does not promise us a roadmap to the future, but it might make a good start. In particular it may help us avoid pitfalls and bear-traps as we move forward. A theme running through all of this is our relationship with the natural world.
To keep the discussion grounded, we could focus on how people provide for their basic needs – food, energy, and interaction with others.
The fee for the event is Free
